Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

As Kathryn has plugged away at getting enrolled in class, I’ve been nearly – not quite, but nearly – overwhelmed with stuff.

Thing 1: School. If anyone ever tells you that teachers don’t work hard enough, or that they’re paid too much, or that anyone can do what we do, ask them to come visit me.

Thing 2: Coaching Certification. Between a night class in Riverton, CPR/First Aid recertification, and an online coaching theory course, I’ve had hardly any spare time. I think Kathryn and I saw each other for, like, 13 minutes on Tuesday.

Thing 3: Money. We’ve done a great job at budgeting and watching our spending, not to mention paying off credit card debt left over from college. That last one went out the window with Christmas, knee surgery (don’t get me started about my insurance coverage), and…

Thing 4: Shackleton. I’ve never felt safer. Great car. Love it. Really irritated that it almost wouldn’t start this morning (it was 7 degrees outside), but the broken passenger window was almost too much to bear. We’re not sure how it happened; we just came out this morning and it was shattered. We also need to replace the (very fancy and heated) windshield, so we’re looking at damn near a grand in repairs.

Thing 5: The house. Don’t worry, it’s structurally sound and stays cozy. I just can’t believe how quickly it gets cluttered up. The office is a vortex of sticky notes, pens, envelopes, CD cases, and coffee mugs. If I ever catch the gnome that destroys that room while Kathryn and I are at work, I’m gonna kick his sneaky little ass. I wonder if the cat knows anything about this?

Thing 6: Knee surgery. I think this is bugging me more than I’ve let on. I’m not worried about it, exactly (hell, painkillers can be fun!) but I’m anxious to find out what’s going on. There’s no doubt in my mind I have chondromalacia in both knees, but the right knee pops quite a bit more than the left, and causes that weird pain to boot. My nightmare scenario with the surgery is that the doc will say I have chondromalacia but he can’t find anything else wrong. I like to think that an orthopaedic surgeon will know a bum knee when he sees one, but given my string of bad luck lately, who knows?

Thing 7: The BCS. I hate it. Just go to a playoff system already, you turds.
